SVA’s Houghton Presents Webinar on Governing in Uncertain Times

SVA Certified Public Accountants professional Kirsten Houghton, CPA, MBA will present a webinar for Numbers 4 Nonprofits’ Breakfast with Benefits Series on November 16, 2021 titled Governing in Uncertain Times.

Organizations have been forced to be agile and implement new strategies to achieve their mission while governing effectively during the ongoing pandemic. With a focus on the effects of COVID-19, this presentation will discuss the effects of the pandemic on board governance and also discuss the issues around ineffective board meetings, lack of diversity of opinion, board member apathy, and poor attendance. Attendees will walk away with methods to use to address issues that have come about due to COVID-19 and develop strategies to resolve each to allow the Board to do what’s most important – support and ensure the organization’s mission and impact.

Kirsten is a Principal with SVA Certified Public Accountants. In addition to providing audit, accounting, and tax services, she also provides review, compilation, and management advisory services. She has expertise in financial accounting, financial statement review, and audit specific to the nonprofit sector where she works with a variety of nonprofit organizations including charitable organizations, membership and trade associations, and those organizations receiving federal and state funding. Kirsten holds a Certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting from Board Source® and leads the SVA Board Building training program.
