Significant Growth and a New Building

Wisconsin Vision Associates (WVA) is a distribution company born from a co-op established in 1982 by a group of eye doctors. They provide economies of scale at significant cost savings by distributing medical goods in the optical field. Owned by Dr. Robert and Judy Fait, the company is a family business. Their son Christopher Fait, CEO, says, “We sell basically everything an eye doctor needs to run his practice.”

WVA’s steady growth over a five-year period prompted their bank and legal counsel to suggest that they look for a more sophisticated accounting firm. SVA came highly recommended. Christopher quickly realized that SVA would be the partner they needed to continue their plans of growth and expansion. “The first recommendation SVA made was switching our financial reporting software to Intacct,” said Christopher.” They installed the software, developed customized reports and trained our staff.”

WVA recently built a new 53,000-square-foot building which will triple their warehouse space. They will now be able to stock 30 days of inventory as compared to the previous 10 days.  The new building also houses the company’s headquarters and the old building will become a second warehouse. SVA was instrumental in strategizing how to finance the project to maximize their tax benefits

As a family business with multiple family members to consider, WVA has benefited from estate planning, insurance reviews, and property management discussions with SVA as well. “Our family now feels secure in the transition of the business from one generation to the next.
