Provider Relief Fund Reporting Update Announced by HHS

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that it is changing the reporting timeline for the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) program.

HHS issued a release stating that “PRF recipients will now be required to submit their reporting requirements on their use of these funds later than previously announced.” The change is due to the passing of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act in late December. This act included language specific to the reporting requirements, and HHS needs additional time to update the reporting process to be in compliance with the Act.

Under the previous timeline, the HHS Reporting Portal was set to open January 15, 2021 and the first report submission was due February 15, 2021.

The first step of the reporting process is registration. The PRF Reporting Portal has opened up for this step. If you are required to report (PRF recipients of payments exceeding $10,000), it is time to register on the Provider Relief Fund Reporting Portal, which is found at https://prfreporting.hrsa.gov/s/

Registration is expected to take approximately 20 minutes and must be completed in one session.

You will want to have the following information available to complete the registration process:

  • Tax ID number, business name, and address of the reporting entity
  • Contact information of the person responsible for submitting the report
  • Tax ID numbers of subsidiaries (if applicable)
  • Payment amount, mode of payment (check or direct deposit), and check number or ACH settlement date

Currently there is not a deadline for registration. Registered recipients will later receive notification regarding when they should complete the next step of submitting the reporting requirements.

While the reporting deadline has been postponed, be sure to take care of the registration process soon, and continue (or start) the work on accumulating the information regarding your healthcare-related expenses attributable to coronavirus.
